Marco antonio solis el buki canciones1/22/2024 As David Cheal eloquently explains, playing on the one "left space for phrases and riffs, often syncopated around the beat, creating an intricate, interlocking grid which could go on and on." You know a funky bassline when you hear it its fat chords beg your body to get up and groove.īrown's 1965 classic, "Papa's Got a Brand New Bag," became one of the first funk hits, and has been endlessly sampled and covered over the years, along with his other groovy tracks. The Godfather of Soul coined the phrase and style of playing known as "on the one," where the first downbeat is emphasized, instead of the typical second and fourth beats in pop, soul and other styles. It's rare that a genre can be traced back to a single artist or group, but for funk, that was James Brown. Rimworld review mac1/21/2024 Remnants of ancient civilizations, roaming primitivist gangs, and wild west-style raiders and traders dot the planetoids. Rim worlds are semi-terraformed planets with random, genetically-modified earth plants and livestock animals, alongside random aliens and other potential horrors. (Ludeon provided a full breakdown of the game's lore in this handy document over here.) The lack of faster-than-light travel means some worlds end up devolving into regressive feudal states, while others have thrived into super high-tech cyber worlds. Thousands of years into the future, humanity has scattered across the galaxy to various stages of progress. The standard scenario sees three randomly-generated space colonists crash land on a sparsely populated galactic rim colony. There are a handful of scenarios to choose from with different "win" conditions, which generally revolve around progressing your civilization from medieval tech all the way up to space-faring capabilities. Put simply, Ludeon and Double Eleven effortlessly shepherd RimWorld into the best Xbox games hall of fame. With RimWorld for Xbox, Double Eleven delivers a master class in how to port this kind of game to a controller, layered on top of one of the most emotional simulation games I've ever experienced. Furthermore, I did not expect that the Xbox version would become my preferred way to play, given the complex array of menus, micro-management, and construction mechanics that are naturally more at home with a mouse and keyboard. I had no idea I'd be sitting here gearing up to drop a perfect score on the game, having already sunk dozens upon dozens of hours into it over just a few days. In preparation, I thought I'd familiarize myself with the general ebb and flow of its unique sandbox. I was lucky enough to be invited to an Xbox preview of RimWorld recently. I was always peripherally aware of RimWorld as a fan of top-down simulators, but for whatever reason, I always put off giving it a try. Mini blender for shots1/21/2024 These will be easy on your blender and yield more water. These include peaches, apricots, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, papaya, mangos, plums, melons, and the like. The watery, mushy type fruits blend so well. The best produce to use, in general, are usually the ones that aren’t so good to juice in a juicer. The quality of your blender will ultimately determine what type of blender juices you can make.īest fruits and vegetables for blender juices If you aren’t sure your blender can handle it, just leave it out and stick to fruits and vegetables that are soft and watery. If you have a more inexpensive version, be careful the type of produce you blend. There are also some other powerful blenders out on the market. It is the Vitamix, and it can blend pretty much any fruit and vegetable. The one that I own, in my opinion is the best blender. A note about blenders: Some blenders can blend anything. When creating your own blender recipes, experiment with the amount of water to make it to your liking…thick or thin.If you want to add greens, add 1-2 leaves of lettuce, spinach or kale to your recipes to make it undetectable in the juice. It’s best if you cut the carrots into chunks as it’s easier on your blender. Blender carrot juice: You can easily make carrot juice with your blender by adding 2-3 carrots to ¼ - 1/2 cup of juice. You just put the fruit in the blender and blend! If you have a powerful blender, it takes less time to blend an apple and grapes together then it does to juice. By combining everything together, you need much less produce.ģ. It’s easy. Juicing in a juicer takes a lot of produce to yield a decent amount of liquid. This benefits those who have blood sugar issues because your body will digest the juices and sugars more slowly when pulp and fiber are present.Ģ. Good for those who want juice, but cannot afford to use much produce. High noon drink label1/21/2024 Hard seltzer was the tailor-made tipple for that particular intersection-and, as long as consumers keep gravitating toward gluten-free options and don't return en masse to high-sugar or high-ABV beverages, hard seltzer's market share should only continue to solidify. The meteoric rise of hard seltzer can be attributed to the confluence of two simultaneous trends: 1) the increased popularity of non-alcoholic flavored seltzer and sparkling water, as American consumers moved away from high-calorie soda during the 2010s, and 2) the broader interest in a "health-conscious" lifestyle-driven by celebrity influencers, depicted and disseminated in social media, targeted at both women and men, and championing gluten-free living and the embrace of low-ABV beverages. Why is hard seltzer so popular right now, and is it just a fad? (This methodology explains why seltzers are typically categorized as "flavored malt beverages," or FMBs, despite many of them containing no malt.) There are also a few seltzers that use wine, vodka, or fermented juice to add the "hard" element. Most hard seltzers source their boozy kick from alcohol derived from fermented cane sugars, although some are based on malted barley, just like their nineties alco-pop forebears. However, contemporary hard seltzers owe at least some debt to nineties-era "alco-pops" like Zima and Smirnoff Ice-although those products were considerably sweeter, and were never marketed as specifically being part of a healthy lifestyle. No, it wasn't Truly or even White Claw-today's hard seltzer category traces its roots to the introduction in 2013 of SpikedSeltzer, a brand which was acquired by AB InBev in 2016 and later rebranded as Bon & Viv (and, eventually, BON V!V). For a keto-friendly alternative, look no further than Flying Embers Hard Seltzer ( view at Drizly), featuring zero grams of both carbs and sugar.įAQs What was the first-ever hard seltzer? Our top recommendation is Quirk Spiked & Sparkling Seltzers ( view at Drizly), which nail both flavor and carbonation levels. To help you make sense of the effervescent offerings, here are the best hard seltzers to drink right now. Some favor real fruit juice or organic ingredients, while other brands look to cocktails or exotic fruits for flavorful inspiration. However, not all hard seltzers are created equally. It’s a tried-and-true template that can make it tough to tell hard seltzers apart, a fizzy blur of boozy water flavored with black cherry or grapefruit. Hard seltzers appealed to customers looking for lower-calorie alcoholic beverages that still delivered big flavor and refreshment, one slim 100-calorie can after another. Over the last five years, hard seltzer has gone from a bubbly upstart to a category juggernaut, sold at grocery stores, bars, and sports stadiums far and wide. Heart defects in charge syndrome1/21/2024 Atresia of the choanae (passages that go from back of nose to throat).Heart defects (complex, like Tetralogy of Fallot).Over the years, it has become clear that CHARGE is indeed a syndrome and at least one gene causing CHARGE syndrome has been discovered. The name “CHARGE” was a clever way (in 1981) to refer to a newly recognized cluster of features seen in a number of children. One of the hidden features of CHARGE syndrome is the determination and strong character these children display. Better understanding will lead the way to interventions, therapies and educational strategies which can help people with CHARGE syndrome overcome many of the obstacles in their lives. Despite these seemingly insurmountable obstacles, children with CHARGE syndrome often far surpass their medical, physical, educational, and social expectations.Ĭontinued research is needed to understand the medical and developmental challenges facing individuals with CHARGE. All are likely to require medical and educational intervention for many years. Most have hearing loss, vision loss, and balance problems which delay their development and communication. Swallowing and breathing problems make life difficult even when they come home. They spend many months in the hospital and undergo many surgeries and other treatments. The vast majority of the time, there is no history of CHARGE syndrome or any other similar conditions in the family.īabies with CHARGE syndrome are often born with life-threatening birth defects, including complex heart defects and breathing problems. It is an extremely complex syndrome, involving extensive medical and physical difficulties that differ from child to child. CHARGE syndrome is a recognizable (genetic) pattern of birth defects which occurs in about one in every 9-10,000 births worldwide. Hidden bar dubrovnik1/20/2024 We'd bought a 3 day Dubrovnik Pass to give us reduced entrance onto the city walls walk and The Rector's House. We've never seen Game of Thrones so the large number of tourists shops and other tours linked to it does give a negative 'Disney' feel. The only shops we saw were tourist / souvenir shops in centre. Even in late September it was very, very busy. Easy to walk around find the main tourist sites and the old harbour. Lots of cafes, bars, restaurants in these side streets avoiding the higher priced ones on main route. Inside the main central street leads into a series of narrow side streets. Outside it's busy and noisy with tourists and heavy traffic. Walking through the gated entrances into the old inner walled city you really feel like you've walked back hundreds of years. The setting is stunning and the excursion makes for a unique adventure. The limestone and rounded rocks make for a slippery surface made worse by heat, and I can imagine rain/early dew or evening mist makes it even more so. We were told the money goes to fortress/city upkeep, so that does provide some consolation, but be prepared to spend quite a bit of money, particularly if this is a family affair. There are stores hawking all kinds of souvenir options too, both inside and outside the walls and small things like water or ice cream are costly. The As mentioned, the food prices were crazy steep. Once we got used to the idea of being inside such a fairytale setting, the awe kind of wears thin when you start taking into account how commercialized and expensive it all is. How strange and awesome to live in a literal castle/fortress. I kept thinking how strange it was to see so many modern amenities, dispositions and attitudes juxtoposed against such a setting. Laundry was hanging out to dry, dogs were running around, locals were hanging out on balconies chatting on cell phones, tv's were blaring, kids were crying, the smell of various types of food permeated the air, etc. There are also numerous apartments where people actually live. It's interesting to see this palatial space as a self contained city with markets, dry cleaners, restaurants, and other places of business taking up the various nooks and crannies. Nevertheless, it was a unique and memorable adventure. It was over 100 degrees the day we were there and it is hard to find shade unless you are seated at one of the restaurants. Making our way through beautiful Old Town within the fortress walls was a fun experience despite the crowds, extremely high prices for food/drink, and crazy heat. If you can, check the internet to avoid days that have cruise ships in port as these lead to added congestion - if you are on one of the cruises hopefully you are one of the few docking that day. I'd recommend a walk around the old city walls which allow you to get a bird's eye view of the place and for an even grander overall picture of the area go up Mount Srd - either on foot if you feel up to the climb, or like us, by gondola. The Game of Thrones connection has possibly added to the issue as visitors search for set locations. Prices are higher than elsewhere in Croatia but that can be expected in a popular tourist destination so it's no surprise. You can't really get lost as it is quite a compact place so just go for a stroll, take a break in one of the many restaurants, bars or cafes and enjoy. However don't let that spoil your visit as it doesn't take much effort to wander off Stradun (the main street) and find yourself in less crowded little alleys which have remained unchanged for years. Similar in a sense to Venice, Old Town Dubrovnik is very picturesque, historic and full of tourists. Linkedin groups strategy1/20/2024 When it comes to asking questions, stay away from yes or no answers. When you post an article, add a short description of how this helped you, what additional thoughts it left you with or any questions it made you consider that the group could weigh in on. The value in starting with this is, you won’t come across as being self-promotional right out of the gate. If you have found a blog article, YouTube video or industry publications that sparks your passion, share this first. Begin to provide value to others before you post on your own content.Įstablish yourself by initially sharing credible content from the industry. In order to do this in a LinkedIn group, begin by liking and leaving comments or feedback on others' posts. Trust takes time to build and must be gained. Once you have a feel for the group’s vibe, begin to participate, and then post later. Choose groups that represent what you stand for. Your groups show up on your profile, which means they are an extension of you and your personal brand. With more than 2 million groups on LinkedIn, there is a place for everyone. Steer clear of those by putting in 3-5 minutes of investigation when you join. Needless to say, there are plenty of LinkedIn groups full of spammers and inactive users. The good news about that is there are many other options.įinding a great group that’ll impact your career is like finding a diamond in the rough. If the group’s culture doesn’t fit you, perhaps this isn’t the best place to spend your time. Notice the tone of the group, as it may be a casual vibe versus strictly professional.
